abstract = "The present study had as objective to analyze the deforestation of
forest with images of the satellites Landsat 5 and Landsat 8, with
temporal difference of 10 years. In order to generate the
deforestation maps of the city of Alta Floresta-MT, the software
SPRING 5.4.1 was used in obtaining NDVI to better characterize the
forest and exposed soil areas. Pre-processing was also done in the
images as atmospheric, radiometric and geometric correction to
minimize atmospheric effects that could interfere in the results.
The use of time series showed clear and satisfactory results with
good information regarding the deforested area for urban
territorial expansion. After the elaboration of maps by Vegetation
Index, it was realized by ArcGIS 10.1. the calculation for
estimating the green area in the municipality for each of the
years studied. The result shows that the clearing of vegetation is
gradual over the ten years and despite the decree of law against
these actions, there is still considerable plant suppression,
however, the city has been working with environmental projects to
mitigate deforestation and improve living conditions of the
inhabitants and thus keep out of the list of municipalities that
most deforest in the State. An overlay map was also prepared for
the years 2005-2015 where it was possible to estimate the loss of
vegetation by approximately 958 km2.",
